Why You Need an M.2 SSD Length ExtenderIdeal ForRepurposing 2230 drives from laptops or handheldsHP Desktop Mini builds using short OEM drivesBudget builds with surplus 2242 SSDsAny M.2 slot that needs a different size driveCompatible With2230 into 2242, 2260, or 2280 slots2242 into 2260 or 2280 slots2260 into 2280 slotsNVMe and SATA M.2 drivesHow It WorksThe extender has pre-scored break points at all four M.2 sizes (2230, 2242, 2260, 2280). Snap off sections from either end to match your drive and your slot. Slide the drive in, secure with the included standoff, and mount the whole assembly. Takes about 30 seconds.Trusted in Our Own BuildsThis is the same M2 SSD Length Extender we install in our own refurbished systems. When we source quality 2230 or 2242 NVMe drives, we use this adapter to fit them into whatever slot the system has. What’s Included✓1× M.2 Length Extender PCB✓1× Brass standoff (pre-installed)✓1× M2 mounting screwWhen You Need an M.2 SSD Length ExtenderSome business chassis (HP EliteDesk 800 G3 , certain Lenovo ThinkStation models, older 1U servers) expect an M.2 22110 form factor in the primary slot. The stock retention standoff sits at 110mm, but most consumer and enterprise NVMe drives today ship in the shorter 2280 size. This extender bridges that gap — the drive seats normally at the 2280 hole, and the extender locks into the 22110 standoff without modifying the board. Works with both NVMe PCIe and SATA M.2 drives since the protocol is set by the slot, not the mount. Install takes under a minute and nothing blocks airflow.
